Kinesthetic Awareness: Creative Dance Study

Two people performing a creative dance

A practice in the art of creative dance group improvisation, this movement exploration will build from individual to group studies with some reflection time built in. Our focus will be on organic impulse, using everyday movement language to connect kinesthetically in an open and supported space. All movement experiences are welcome, all prompts are go-at-your-own pace. Come ready to move!

This session will be limited to 10 participants. The first 10 students to register will be sent a confirmation email shortly after registration, and the remaining students will be put on a wait list in the order in which they registered and will be notified of upcoming workshops.

About the instructor:
An apprentice teacher in Mettler-based creative dance, snem DeSellier (they/them) is a multi-faceted facilitator. Their approach builds off applied theatre models, narrative strategy, consent education, theatre creation, universal design/movement for all, and a constellation of queerness. They have taught to a variety of communities across the country over the past 5 years and have presented through local arts groups, Mettler Studios, and the International Association for Creative Dance. You can also find them working as a Simulation Support Technician at MSim, and occasionally as an SP (Standardized Patient). Increasingly, they are curious about the ways our individual movement awareness impacts our effectiveness from both a data and care focused lens.
